Overview

Working closely with Indian National Trust for Art & Cultural Heritage (Bhavnagar Chapter), the projects ranged from crafting event posters, creating digital newsletters, to designing a yearly journal featuring heritage sites. These designs were crafted with the goal of promoting awareness and participation in various heritage and environmental conservation events.

Poster Design Experience

I have designed over 75 posters and created e-newsletters for diverse events, applying user-centered design principles to ensure each piece effectively communicates its message to the intended audience. My approach involves:

Audience Analysis: I conduct thorough research to understand the demographics, preferences, and needs of various target groups, such as school students, women, and artisans. This helps me create relevant content and visuals.

Tailored Design: Each poster is crafted with specific audience considerations in mind. For school students, I incorporate engaging graphics and relatable themes. For women and artisans, I focus on empowering visuals and inclusive messaging that resonates with their experiences and aspirations.

Clarity and Engagement: Utilizing principles of visual hierarchy, typography, and color theory, I design posters that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also communicate information clearly and effectively. My goal is to capture attention and encourage interaction, driving engagement with the event or initiative.

Feedback and Iteration:I value feedback from stakeholders and end-users, allowing me to refine designs and ensure they meet the needs and expectations of the audience. This iterative process is crucial in creating impactful designs that leave a lasting impression.

Through these practices, I strive to create posters that not only inform but also inspire and connect with the audience on a deeper level.

Heritage Tree Awareness Initiative

As part of my efforts to raise awareness about the heritage trees in my city, I developed a design for tree tags that effectively communicates key information to the public. This initiative involved several strategic design choices:

Informative Design: Each tree tag features the common name of the tree in the native language alongside its scientific name. This bilingual approach ensures accessibility and fosters a connection with the local community.

Color Choice: I selected a bright yellow color for the tags, which is visually striking and easily noticeable in public spaces. This decision was driven by the need to attract attention and encourage curiosity among passersby.

Interactive Element: Each tag includes a QR code that links to a detailed webpage with comprehensive information about the specific tree. This feature provides an engaging way for people to learn more about the trees' ecological significance, history, and conservation efforts.

User-Centered Approach: By prioritizing clear communication and accessibility, I aimed to create a design that resonates with a diverse audience, encouraging them to explore and appreciate the natural heritage of their city.

Heritage and Biodiversity Journal Design

To promote the rich biodiversity and cultural heritage of the region, I designed a yearly Heritage Journal that highlights a unique theme for each month, focusing on both natural and monumental heritage sites. My design process involved:

Thematic Structure: The journal is divided into monthly segments, with each edition dedicated to a specific aspect of the region’s heritage. Some months emphasize biodiversity, spotlighting local flora and fauna, while others focus on monumental sites, presenting detailed stories about historical landmarks.

Visual Consistency: The design uses a cohesive layout, color scheme, and typography to maintain visual harmony across the entire year, while allowing each month's theme to shine. The nature-themed pages are earthy and vibrant, while heritage site pages have a more historical tone, evoking a sense of the past.

Purpose-Driven Design: By balancing nature and culture in the journal’s content, the project encourages readers to connect with the region’s ecological and historical heritage, fostering both awareness and pride.

Local Craft Promotion Catalogue Design

In an effort to promote the traditional crafts of the region, such as hand embroidery and beadwork, I designed a comprehensive catalogue that showcases these artisanal products. This catalogue was strategically distributed to renowned hotels across Bhavnagar city, targeting both local and international tourists.

Targeted Audience: I carefully considered the distribution strategy, selecting renowned hotels frequented by tourists and visitors who are more likely to appreciate and purchase these unique, handcrafted products. The catalogue served as both an informational tool and a promotional piece, driving interest in local crafts.

Aesthetic Choices: The design features earthy tones and traditional patterns to reflect the cultural essence of the region. This aligns with the storytelling of the catalogue, which not only focuses on the products but also on the history and heritage of the artisans behind them.

User Experience: The catalogue layout was designed to provide a seamless flow of information, from product details to pricing, making it easy for the audience to browse and engage with the content. The use of call-to-action elements, like QR codes and contact information, ensured easy access for interested buyers.
